Professional surfer Chiasa (instagram.com/chiasamaruyama), living in America, dropped by the Slow Sloth Cafe!
Chiasa’s mother and the cafe manager have been best friends since middle school, and we’ve known Chiasa since she was a baby. Every time we meet, it feels like she’s becoming someone out of our reach, but in reality, she’s as down-to-earth as ever. She kindly pushes my younger son’s wheelchair and even indulges us in conversations about Pretty Cure, showing how wonderfully kind she is.
Juggling university and surfing might be challenging, but we hope she enjoys a world we can’t experience.
