On Tuesday, August 26, Zenrin DataCom Inc. ✨ and Kids Programming Co., Ltd. KIDSPRO 🎓 hosted the “Design AI Map Workshop 🗺️” at Sloth Cafe 🦥!
In this workshop, the children used map data owned by the Zenrin Group and a demo site called “Design Map AI,” which allows them to easily create original maps with AI. They learned how to use AI effectively and safely while taking on the challenge of designing their very own maps.
At first, the children were a bit nervous, but they gradually relaxed 😊. They enjoyed designing their maps in their own way and seemed to have a lot of fun during the process.
Even when the AI’s results didn’t come out as expected, some children showed creativity by changing the way they asked questions to get closer to their ideal maps ✨. For example, one child had difficulty displaying Goryokaku 🏯 correctly on the map, but after noticing that the moat was water, they changed the design to emphasize the river and successfully reflected it on their map 💡.
At the end, a developer from Zenrin DataCom explained how the map data works, giving the children a deeper understanding of maps and city planning 📚.
