We extend our heartfelt sympathies to everyone affected by the earthquake in Kumamoto. We know that anxious times may still be continuing, but we sincerely pray for everyone’s safety and a swift recovery.
This is Okada, the manager of Sloth Cafe. On Monday, which was our regular closing day, we held our monthly yoga workshop. This workshop originally started when my friend from elementary and middle school offered to come teach as a volunteer for mothers of children with disabilities. Currently, anyone is welcome to join.
Since it was during summer vacation this time, children joined us as well! Feel free to spend your time however you like. There is a park right across from the cafe, so it is completely fine to step outside and play for a bit during the session! If you are worried that your children might not sit still, please don’t hesitate to join us. Moms with babies can practice yoga while keeping an eye on them in the raised seating area!

We always start with a short talk by Kayoko Sensei. The theme this time was “What is your dream?” An elementary school boy energetically answered “A baseball player!” Hearing that made me pause and think for myself, “What is my dream…?” Actually, my long-time dream had always been “to own my own shop once my child-rearing is finished.” Realizing that, a deep sense of gratitude washed over me as I reflected on how I’ve already been granted one dream simply by opening this Sloth Cafe. So, what is my dream for the future? It is “to keep running this Sloth Cafe for a long, long time to come.” However, this is a dream I can never fulfill alone. It is a dream that can only come true thanks to all our customers who visit our shop. So that this place remains a warm, relaxing haven where everyone can catch their breath, we will continue to serve you with all our heart. Please come visit us again and again.
